[Product Description]

Two bows, an arrow basket, and eight feathered arrows in well-balanced and luxurious natural walnut case. With the entire set as a luxurious decoration that looks bright and flattering.

A bow and arrow set are commonly used to decorate a child's first New Year's holiday.

Shooting a target with a bow is called hama, and kanji character for exorcism is applied. Hamaya is an arrow that is used to destroy demons, and Hamayumi is a bow that is used to shoot these arrows, both of which are believed to protect children from evil spirits.

Hamaya, is an amulet to ward of evil, has come to be used in other ways than Tango no Sekku, such as being awarded at shrines during New Year holidays and used in ridge-raising ceremonies to pray for safety when building a house.

Bird feathers are used for the arrow feathers of the Hamaya. The eight arrows have been appreciated as an auspicious number since ancient times, because the Chinese character for "eight" has the shape of auspicious "widening the end".

The gold color is applied with thinly stretched gold leaf.
